Introduction
In 1993, in view of the disastrous flood in Eastern China, a group of Hong Kong artists initiated a series of charity events to raise funds to relieve the plight of the people suffering from flood damage. Some of the artists have also visited The Mainland to gain a better understanding of the local situations and decided that ongoing charitable action was needed to provide assistance to children in order to tackle the root issues on disasters, poverty, diseases and orphans, etc. Subsequently the Caring For Children Foundation (CFCF) was officially registered as a licensed charity organization (Inland Revenue Ordinance no. 91/3922) in 1994.
CFCF’s mission is to care and support children’s welfare in China building on the spirit of “Chinese caring for China”. We strive to improve the quality of living of residents in remote areas in The Mainland through our 4 major programmes: including the “Rehabilitation Programme” to provide assistance to disabled/handicapped children, the “Foster Care Programme” to provide family care for orphans, the “Education Programme” to assist village children to get back to school and the “Disaster Relief Programme” to assist people affected by natural disasters to rebuild their homes.
This year CFCF celebrates its 16th anniversary of working in close collaboration with numerous volunteers for the betterment of rural China. Our work spans 10 provinces and extends into the remote mountain areas of The Mainland to provide essential assistance on disaster relief, education, foster care and rehabilitation. Throughout the years we have subsidized over 150,000 individuals and donated over 60 millions dollars to support children suffering from poverty, loneliness and the handicap in The Mainland allowing them to enjoy a better future.
Mission
Our mission is to raise awareness and to touch the selfless compassion of people around the world to care for the needy in China.
