In 1993, in view of the disastrous flood in Eastern China, a group of Hong Kong artists initiated a series of charity events to raise funds to relieve the plight of the people suffering from flood damage. Some of the artists have also visited The Mainland to gain a better understanding of the local situations and decided that ongoing charitable action was needed to provide assistance to children in order to tackle the root issues on disasters, poverty, diseases and orphans, etc. Subsequently the Caring For Children Foundation (CFCF) was officially registered as a licensed charity organization (Inland Revenue Ordinance no. 91/3922) in 1994. Riding on the spirit of “Chinese caring for China,” CFCF aims to foster a team of volunteers from various backgrounds to assist residents in the poor areas of The Mainland and contribute to the development of charity and welfare programmes with focus on 4 major aspects, including education, foster care, rehabilitation and disaster relief.
